The Centenary Philatelic Congress of Great Britain is being held in Manchester from July 16th to 19th 2009

Congress is based at the Manchester Copthorne Hotel in Salford Quays

The Roll of Distinguished Philatelists is being held in the gothic splendour of Manchester Town Hall.

Talks and presentations include the following:        

• The history of Manchester - Beryl Jones
• Sudan -Richard Stock FRPSL
• The English Civil War -  Malcolm Ray Smith
• Display - Stamp Collecting & Philately, the past, the present and the future - Dr. Alan Huggins
• The Chairman (Paul Gaywood) entertains
• Australian Gold - Malcolm Mynott
• Kay Goodman Lecture - The Evolution of Congress from the Past to the Future - Francis Kiddle RDP FRPSL
• Edward VIII - Stephen Parkin
• Talk - New Hebrides - Jim Crompton
• In addition there will be a display by one of the new Distinguished Philatelists and a talk on New Zealand POW postcards and letters

There will also be a static display of the Royal Philatelic Society of London, Forgeries collection.

On the Saturday afternoon delegates have the option of a visit Salford Quays (Lowry Museum, Imperial War Museum, shopping outlet, etc.) or City Centre museums or shops

Day tickets are available Thursday £6, Friday £10, Saturday £10 and Sunday £6
